Namaste this Mindful Monday!
Here in the U.S., there is quite a swirl of energy and we are keeping all of the East Coast in prayer as Hurricane Sandy gets herself wrapped up in a ‘Nor’Easter’ storm. At least, I think that’s what some official said … irrespective of the details, it is a really big, history making storm that has shut down a whole chunk of ‘business as usual’ ~ we send you all Love & blessings! We also send prayers for peace & comfort to those in Haiti & Cuba & anywhere else there is suffering from this storm. One of the gifts of such an uprising is the remembrance of our oneness ~ that we share the fortune & misfortune of all. On my side of the country, we have an unseasonably warm, mild, 80 degree sunny sky day with hues of fall smiling into the blue … so I am sending this colorful beauty to the rainy, snowy, windy landscapes and all beings upon them … knowing that our beautiful breezes are theirs, and their raging storm is ours. Such is our connection in the The Mystery.
A storm of this magnitude helps us all put things in perspective. My computer is being reluctant to boot the last few days with those unfamiliar, ‘we’re in trouble’ screens coming up … death may be imminent? Still, I must trust. This, & all my other work & money concerns seem like a grain of sand compared to Hurricane Sandy roaring & drenching so many. It is scary but in all things, large & small, we are invited to reaffirm our faith in divine order & our all things possible God. Trusting the health or replacement of a computer is the same stuff as trusting well being & replacement of home ~ though the latter is magnified to the nth degree! A lovely woman I know survived Katrina with just the clothes on her back and she is still grateful & trusting of life. May all those in the wake of this storm or any other challenge know & feel the peace that passeth understanding. “Whenever tragic loss occurs, you either resist or you yield. Some people become bitter or deeply resentful; others become compassionate, wise, and loving. Yielding means inner acceptance of what is. You are open to life. Resistance is an inner contraction, a hardening of the shell of the ego. You are closed. Whatever action you take in a state of inner resistance (which we could also call negativity) will create more outer resistance, and the universe will not be on your side; life will not be helpful. If the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in. When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up.” ~ Eckhart Tolle (A New Earth, 57)
In this month’s practice of Quietude, I have had many callings surface as well as big doses of fear & resistance to taking action on the callings. I have been consciously seeing where the shutters are closed & doing what I can to open them to the light. Last week’s Mindful Meditation Invitation was to take action in answering the call ~ on whatever levels we have to! For my part, I took a few steps back, put on the compassionate lenses of Love & made a new plan for taking action steps from that place of service and deservedness. I definitely feel grateful & on purpose as I vow to keep listening, rooted in faith, growing in fortitude, detangling from resistance & reaching for the light!
