Zealous Yes: Love Expressed

Namaste Zealous Breath Of Love & Life Expressed!

Thank you for being here this mindful moment; for saying yes to this breath, yes to this connection. In the midst of what seems a continuous swirl of suffering, injustice and instances of humanity at it’s most horriblest, let us persist in the ways we must resist and insist on experiencing glimpses of bliss despite our hurting hearts. Yes this last week has brought an array of madness moments building the momentum of the insanity of humanity with POTUS Trump actually throwing rolls of paper towels into the hands of devastated Americans in Puerto Rico and the Vegas shooter waging war on innocent civilians spraying a reign of terrifying bullets from on high. As we look on and then look away, we struggle inside and out with what to think, do, say. While some claim prayers are not enough, reaching for our holy Creator and the divinity, compassion, forgiveness inside us, is still some of the best of who we are divinely designed to be. Saying YES to reaching high is indeed, how we rise! And it can be SO challenging sometimes … I myself felt anger this week which is pretty rare for me. In our messy humanness, we feel and we deal. And we surrender, pray and reach high … and higher …

So what do we tell our children?

How can we best help our youngest navigate what we ourselves struggle with??!! The words of beloved Mr. Rogers ~ and his mother! ~ can help us all. Yes, we look for the helpers. Those are the ones that are embodying the highest in humanity. The ones called to rescue, resuscitate, renew … We tell our children to look for the helpers. We answer their questions and no more. We spare their innocence from more detail than they need; we shelter them from too many media images and messages. And we pray with our children ~ reaching on high to lift ourselves and others. We release the yuckies in healthy ways like sounding on our Leaping Literacy Free Shelf with SoulPlay Michelle Peticolas this month. We look for the good and focus there. We live the good we are blessed with, the best we can each day.

Reach High!

It is so ‘normal’ to feel sadness, anger, pain when our brothers and sisters are hurting. In today’s media age, we know so much (too much?!) in real time though of course there is always more we barely hear of (recent near genocide of Rowhingya Muslims). Most if not all of us are feeling degrees of overwhelm and it may seem somehow ‘wrong’ for us to feel good, feel joyful, much less passionate and zealous?! Let’s look deeper, shall we? If those of us who in this moment are safe, loved, surrounded by beauty & comfort are vibrating with sadness, anger or even rage and despair, who will lift humanity?! Think of it in Harry Potter terms; the Death Eaters could swallow one up, heart and soul yet be staved off with good, happy thoughts. We are not so different, friends. Though the level of chaos and darkness is seemingly growing, we must hold heart space of the highest order during these birthing pains of a more evolved, compassionate humankind. We are helpers. We are good. We are divinely designed to be a zealous YES of Love expressed!

No matter the personal or global deets of your days, say YES to your heart ~ listen and tap into … what makes your heart smile? What lights you up? What gives you a sizzling energy of YES ~?! THAT is ZEAL! Zeal is the energy of yes and pure potentiality!

For my part, I stay plenty busy being mighty mom and caretaking elders, especially my dad. These are jobs that can be exhausting and not always fulfilling. My most zealous yes is in creating ~

Above and below are ‘Peacock Cards’ I made for a spiritual literacy class this week ~ we circled up with peacock wisdom, made fruit peacock snacks and art and let this Creature Teacher speak to us of dreams. As you may or may not know, the regal beauty of the peacock embodies a wild voice ~ it kinda cries, squawks, laughs all at once! Like this pretty bird, we are all of it!
Circled up with the Peacock enlightenment! It can be so easy to ignore our hearts and live without zeal ~ seemingly saying no to our deepest desires simply by being too busy with the daily demands or by being engulfed in negativity by the gravity of current affairs. Again, I say, rise up against the ‘Death Eaters’ of insanity and gratefully embrace the goodness all around you and the goodness that is you. Reach into your Transformational Toolbox to let go of all the yuckies, surrender to your higher power and then start giving thanks for all you have and all you are. Reach high and feel the zeal ~ for your highest good and the highest good of all! Right action for what is yours to do will naturally follow your zealous YES!

Our October Leaping Literacy Library Free Shelf has a mix of home Zeal, Halloween, and a special SoulPlay PlayShop with Secrets of Life & Death’s Michelle Peticolas helping us release yuckies with sound. Great for all ages, release with us!My work/play of spiritual literacy has me developing new content for the Leaping Literacy Library as I play it out in the new Creative Spirit Families studio and at Spiritual Life Center on Sundays. Last Sunday, Squirrel was our Feature Creature Teacher. Squirrel works very hard, especially this time of year, gathering for the winter yet always seems to be at play. Rather than worrying about the approaching cold and scarcity, squirrel playfully gathers and stores with a seeming grateful joy.Life is good and the goodness of life is best felt when we stay grateful ~ and when we add some play into our work! When we look at life and death in the circle of time, we can see our lives for what we want them to be … productivity and potentiality played out passionately! Part of my calling keeps returning me to my long list of alliteration titles that are being completed in zig zag formation ~ given that last post, there were 2 new T titles and this time, the newest are from the outstanding letter O!

So! I will keep the words, Library, and live circles at play! And for my hurting brothers and sisters I will pray. With a bit of both play & pray in every breath, may we all, in our own ways, be a zealous YES of Love expressed! Namaste, Love!

Labor Of Love

Namaste Wondrous Light Workers! Happy Labor Day!

With a deep breath of Love expressed, let us ponder, just a moment, what it is to do our work in this world …

Today, the first Monday in September is always set aside in America to honor workers and a now, mostly forgotten long, old battle with worker’s rights, fair wages and treatment. According to the US Department of Labor, this day is the “yearly national tribute” to the “contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and wellbeing of our country.” At the least, it’s good to remember that this holi-day is more than BBQs and shopping sales.
In the heart of existence, can we breathe into what it is to have a life’s work of being the Creator’s Love expressed? I think about this a lot and thought it a good time to share some musings. The recent response to Hurricane Harvey comes to mind with regular folk going to ‘work’ to rescue folks with their personal boats, trucks. In the wake of disaster, the best of who we are as humanity often rises up to shine. For me personally, I have been showing up to do non-paid work for a very long time. One example is the daily Play & Pray Calendar at New Thought Families, now in it’s 10th year! This September, we remember we are one on the calendar. In re-visiting oneness, I am reminded of being oneness blessed. After all these years, I’m not sure how much this daily offering serves the world yet it is work I still feel is worth showing up for.
Like many, if not most or all of you, I have a lot of family work. Spiritually parenting my 17 year old son and 92 year old father in particular. These are jobs that have and do pay me some, in terms of monetary dollars yet they are a 24/7 kind of commitment with immeasurable compensation due and (sometimes) received. I am also called to keep clearing ancestral ‘treasures’ on this earthly plane. This work is not always met with understanding or appreciation by some in my family which can feel like a slap in the face. Whatever the deets, family is always work. From the logistical chores and upkeep to the emotional treading and threading as we weave the web of relational oneness. It is a labor of Love that can feel rewarding or extremely challenging. What keeps my heart straight is aligning with Spirit as the family heartbeat. From this place I am more able to be compassionate, caring … and willing.

Why We Do The Work We Do
Jobs! Work! Career! Life Calling! Life Path! Showing up day in and day out to give of ourselves and our gifts. We all know plenty of peeps on the spectrum of labor and labor of Love. I have been one to follow my heart with work, most of my life. Always a creator with a prolific body of work in the Leaping Literacy Library, I have to say the ‘ordinary’ job of being Jeremiah’s mom is one of the best jobs ever and I have been doubly blessed by a generous compensation of child support. I know that so many on this planet haven’t been afforded this aspect of freedom in choosing how they feed their children and themselves. We often work … just … for the money. I have found that many, including most in my family, seemingly only value the jobs I do that actually pay money. Which is funny when you think about how someone like Mother Teresa is revered for her life’s work. From our PeaceMaker page on Mama T:
Mother Teresa
Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary.
What we need is to love without getting tired.
~ Mother Teresa

When thinking of work and the kind of giving she did, it is remarkable to know that not only was Mother Teresa not in it for the money, she spent many of her days in darkness … feeling empty in her giving. This has been well documented and so I hope that after she left this earthly plane, she did indeed receive her just reward, aka in her soul journey, she experienced her great work as worthwhile.

Good works are links that form a chain of love. ~ Mother Teresa

To You Who Gave ~ By Me (Laurie Story  V)

Mother Teresa who gave to the poor …
did you ever wonder what it was all for?
When you listened to your heart, was it always true?
And in your endless giving, who gave to you?
In your selfless living, did you feel the grace?
Were you filled with the same mercy that you gave?
Did you ever soak in a warm bubble bath?
Did you have a good friend that made you laugh?
Were there arms to hold you? A voice in your ear?
Did anyone speak to your doubt and fear?
Were you blessed with at least one comforting friend;
someone you could trust in and forever depend?
Beautiful Mother Teresa, you ministered to us all,
even if your faith faltered, you answered the call.
And if you ever wondered what it was all for,
know now that your love, loves you back ever more.
~ Laurie Story

So! Does a labor of Love have to involve suffering and selfless giving?! Let’s hope not! Or we would never plant flowers or paint pictures. I hope that whatever your work is in this world, you honor the inner creator as well as the Great Creator that breathed life into us all! From the spiritual perspective, our job is to keep affirming and living, “I am one with all that is” in an honoring of all expressions of the divine, especially the ones that prove hard to see the aspects of their divinity.WorldFamily

Leaping Literacy!
For my part, I’ll just keep being me; showing up for many in my life as well as for Leaping Literacy! Below is our September Free Shelf super stocked with a celebration of creativity, spirituality and trees! I also am posting our new offerings for Creativity Classes locally. The studio is new. The offerings are newly revised for the fresh space. The leap of faith is ancient. I am showing up to do the work with a playful invitation for others to come and experience their own joy and creativity. It’s good work. I am grateful for it. And so grateful for you ~ for ALL the work YOU are called to do. Namaste, Love!

Sacred Spirit! What’s Your Story?

roe-deer-1888115_640Namaste dear sweet sacred snowflake Spirit!

I greet you in celebration of you and your story ~ whatever that is this sacred moment. YOU! The yes blessed creation of Love expressed you are … thank you for being here. Deep breath of gratitude and centering …

As we looked at the intricate infinity of snowflakes last week, we called on the strength of slowness, softness, and surrender. This led me to look deeper into my story and the stories of those in my family, including the ancestors. And in this incredible time of awakening and ground shaking social injustice, I took in a few of the stories of our relations in our global family that I have chosen to share here.
fishstory1I first heard the powerful truth that “We live in story like fish live in water.” from Rachel Flower on the shores of Lake Tahoe where we taped her Earth Gym SoulPlay segments. The waterways of our stories include that of our ancestors, children, extended families. As global family, the oneness of who we are as creation intersects all the individual stories of the collective humanity. Free will and consciousness allow us to choose how much we step back from the story though we seemingly can never be free from it. Story being like the water to fish, it keeps us alive while it defines our existence. Like the snowflakes, we each have our own configuration and intersection of stories ~ always further explained through our perspective. I have noticed with my siblings, we all have a slightly different tale to tell about our upbringing. Do your family stories vary too?!indian-1119222_640

We belong to each other through our essence; we absorb each other’s essence through story. We all desire to belong and definitely align through shared culture, religion, and oftentimes skin color. And though we refer to shades of skin pigment with colors like white and black, none of us are that. Yet it aids the parameters of story that help us honor our ancestors. Part of humanity’s evolution is to help heal and transcend the wounds and injustices that have gone before. And as we are experiencing now, these ‘sins of the fathers’ have a way of repeating themselves ~ stories and narratives of fear resurface repeatedly until we can collectively Love them into memory banished from returning as experience. It seems we have a long way to go. Yet! Perhaps we are closer than we know. For we are better connected now and better able to trust the truth to transform. And for those not there yet, we can choose compassion as we stand for truth, peace, and justice within our individual and collective stories.

wepeople

One story I would like to honor this week is that of  Rumana Ahmed, a young Muslim American woman who worked in the White House during the Obama administration and the first 8 days of the Trump regime. “I debated whether I should leave my job. Since I was not a political appointee, but a direct hire of the NSC, I had the option to stay. The incoming and now departed national security adviser, Michael Flynn, had said things like “fear of Muslims is rational.” Some colleagues and community leaders encouraged me to stay, while others expressed concern for my safety. Cautiously optimistic, and feeling a responsibility to try to help them continue our work and be heard, I decided that Trump’s NSC could benefit from a colored, female, hijab-wearing, American Muslim patriot. ~ Reported in the Atlantic.

This young woman’s story is an inspirational account of courage from being born here in the states, suffering intense racism & islamophobia after 911, growing up to work for national security in the White House only to re-experience the growing resurgence of fear fueled hate towards Muslims she remembered post 911. “My father taught me a Bengali proverb inspired by Islamic scripture: “When a man kicks you down, get back up, extend your hand, and call him brother.” Peace, patience, persistence, respect, forgiveness, and dignity. These were the values I’ve carried through my life and my career.” Rumana Ahmed is an inspiration and a truth teller.  Her story is also a chilling and telling account of what the newly inhabited White House was/is like after the changing of the guard. You can read Ahmed’s whole story in the Atlantic.

There are, of course, so many, many stories in this time of deportations, immigrants, families in fear and turmoil. book-im-australian-too-coverInnocents of all kinds are being harmed. My second story comes from beloved children’s book author Mem Fox.
Fox is a world renowned children’s book author from Australia. Earlier this month, she travelled to America to speak at a literacy conference; she was detained for questioning at LAX in a room with others where all were reportedly treated badly. “I have never in my life been spoken to with such insolence, treated with such disdain, with so many insults and with so much gratuitous impoliteness,” Fox said. “I felt like I had been physically assaulted which is why, when I got to my hotel room, I completely collapsed and sobbed like a baby, and I’m 70 years old.” Fox said she was questioned over her visa, despite having travelled to America 116 times before without incident. She was eventually granted access to the country. Fox said she was shocked by her treatment and “couldn’t imagine” returning to the US. Her story has been covered by multiple sources including ABC in Australia yet the clearest account of the whole incident I’ve read just came from The Guardian wherein she said, “I am all about inclusivity, humanity and the oneness of the humans of the world; it’s the theme of my life.”  Ironically, Mem Fox‘s latest book is “I’m Australian Too” which celebrates multiculturalism and immigrants in Australia. You can see as well as hear the audio book, I’m Australian Too HERE!

As we share each others stories ~ of sorrow or celebration ~  we open our hearts wider to the best of who we are as humanity. Unfortunately, ‘history does repeat itself’ in the horrors yet also in the brave resilience and actions for justice. Incredibly, the Underground Railroad is back! The reporting on the Railroad for illegals and undocumented is here ; it tells of a few efforts including a network of Los Angeles religious groups called the Rapid Response Team. In the sorrow of these times, we can celebrate the sanctuary cities and the individuals willing and able to provide safe houses on the resurrected Underground Railroad.

It’s true that in the toughest times, the tender truth of our humanity rises ~ even in a car commercial! I can’t believe I’m sharing this here yet it touches my heart and speaks to the collective story of our sacred connections:

As we grapple for our personal and collective truth, let us, indeed dare to live our highest and best in oneness.

For my part, our Leaping Literacy Library continues with various voices and offerings. At New Thought Families, our daily Play & Pray Calendar switches this week here from February’s Love Blessed to March’s Compassion In Action ~ daily remembrances, invitations and celebrations! Our Peaceful Reconstructionists are still being added, catching up from last week. Our last finished round was 3 celebrating these environmental heroes and sheroes:vintagevoicespr3Through spending time with inspirational people, we share the magnificence that each of them brings … past, present, even future ~ and we are better able to touch our own magnificent radiance. Let us keep countering any bully culture with the best of human kindness, perseverance, resilience, and Love expressed for ourselves and for our children.

Finally, I must also honor the story of our indigenous people as the No DAPL Standing Rock Camp was dismantled this past week. Through this worldwide prayerful effort, consciousness has indeed been lifted. While the black snake has been tapped and not left to sleep, there are many victories and celebrations. Standing Rock brought us many wise voices and a reporting of the people by the people. Lyla June sings of the generational story in her All Nations Rise. Below, she sings a bit of All Nations Rise at Standing Rock and then the full version music video that was released last fall. Feel the power of her voice and wisdom and that of her ancestors coming through. The story is ancient, layered, wisely profound, compelling and indeed … rising ~ all of us ~ ever higher.

All Nations Rise • Lyla June • Black Hills Unity Concert 2016

Thank you again for being here … to share your Spirit, these stories, your story, our story of conscious humanity on the rise. Whatever your stories be, may their sacred core bring you home to your resilient Spirit and home to the heart of humanity. Namaste, Love!

Om Of Oneness

203.OnenessOut

Namaste Original Ones!
I greet you with an OM of oneness! In the midst of a sizzling summer swirl, I made it back to the beach this week for 2 nights arriving home just before Jeremiah and dadio Daniel arrived from their coast to coast driving adventure … after 5 weeks away, my boy is home! I am cherishing the oneness that I felt while he was away as well as the atONEment I feel now that he is home. Practicing this OM of oneness in this now moment … here … even as the next few days loom large, breathing OM now … Before I take him on to band camp, take his dad to the airport to fly home, take my dad to more doctors, get back to Laurie StorEBooks and the Leaping Literacy Online Library, and finish my county fair entries … So! I know you have a long list too so let’s just center in this cyber space together and OM as ONE!…! grandomMy meditation on the letter O is offered below followed by a bit more on sacredness in politics mentioned in the last July blogpost here. And! Here is the ‘Ocean OM’ vlog celebrating Letter O I did on the beach if you want to om with me here or directly at Vimeo with the password: VLOLS

In Our Origin Is Oneness!
All of life originated from the same Source; with intention we can open ourselves to this sweet Spirit oasis place anytime, anywhere. With the desire to experience oneness, we can allow our awareness to expand. As we breathe out the sacred sound of OM, we can connect with all of creation … no matter how much our conscious brain allows for, the experience is there. When we say Namaste, we are honoring the divine in us sees the divine in another. When we use compassion to see others, oneness awareness is fostered. When we give thanks for our food thinking of some of the hands and lives that brought it into being, we expand our awareness of oneness. Though oneness is in the natural order of who we be, often (always?!) the process of awakening into oneness consciousness is like water over stone. It’s spiritual practice!

202.Original

In Our Origin Is Our Originality!
The place of our originality ~ the uniqueness of our own gifts to give the world is also innate in our origin. All too often, this too is forgotten as adults become overridden with responsibilities and seeming obstacles to happiness. Yet, the truth of our being is always there. What did we love doing as children? What do we love doing now? When we do what makes us feel blissful, we are in alignment with our originality. Knowing and feeling this should be all we need, right? Sure. From the earliest stages of life, babies and children look to others for encouragement and acknowledgment, “Watch me!”, and permission, “Is this OK?” Unfortunately, our originality is not always rewarded which can be one of the reasons we tune it out. Yet! Original us always exists! And in fact, it often will persist and insist to be let out (again!) to play!

205.OwnOptimismIn Our Origin Is Optimism!
Yes, I know some of us seem to own more optimism than others yet when we turn again to look at our youngest teachers, the evidence is there that we are born with hope, good cheer, and an optimistic outlook that life is a gift worth living! No matter where you find yourself on the optimism scale, it is like any other habit or virtue ~ with attention and nourishing, it will grow! Another spiritual practice, gratitude & appreciation can help your outlook be more optimistic as you gratefully see your blessings and life’s goodness. There are scientific studies and/or you can just trust me on this: optimistic peeps are happier than pessimistic ones thereby bringing more happiness to others!

201.OrganicallyOur Organic Origins are LOVE!
The place where we connect to Source and Oneness is Love. The place where we align with the original shine of our divine design is Love. The place where we allow an optimistic outlook to guide our way is Love. We are organisms programmed for Love because that’s what we’re made of. And then there are the opposites. The opposite of Love is fear … forging it’s way as hate, abandonment, even mental illness that commits acts of terror and senseless violence. Often quoted here, it bears repeating that, “Everything is either an act of Love or a cry for Love.” ~ Ernest Holmes208.DivineOrder

We are One with all of it! Yes, one with beauty & goodness yet also one with ugly and pain. This is so beautifully expressed by the great poet Thich Nhat Hanh. Here is part of his famous poem, Please Call Me By My True Names:
“… I am the frog swimming happily in the clear water of a pond. And I am the grass-snake that silently feeds itself on the frog. I am the child in Uganda, all skin and bones, my legs as thin as bamboo sticks. And I am the arms merchant, selling deadly weapons to Uganda. I am the twelve-year-old girl, refugee on a small boat, who throws herself into the ocean after being raped by a sea pirate. And I am the pirate, my heart not yet capable of seeing and loving. … Please call me by my true names, so I can wake up, and so the door of my heart can be left open, the door of compassion. …”

204.OldOnes

Our Old Ones …
In the circle of Love and the circle of time, our old ones offer us a great opportunity of heart opening compassion. Of course, as in generations past, our old ones offer a wisdom of life experience and way showing. Sometimes, the wisdom slips away before the body does. As many of our elders live longer and longer in aging bodies that cause the indignities of deterioration, those of us that care for them can feel oppressed as (parts of) our own lives are put on hold to take care of them and their needs. However, when we can center in the optimistic origins of life, allowing our hearts to open, we organically come home to Love, home to ourselves, to family, to community ~ local and global.

And so it is we return briefly to the discussion of sacredness and politics. Mmm … politics … oh … ow. A needed place for OM if ever there was one! I had shared about Stephen Dinan’s book, “Sacred America, Sacred World” last time as I was so excited to receive and read it. When it arrived, I was drawn immediately to the chapter on family. After reading that chapter, I couldn’t quite get into the book. I waited a few days and read the chapter again in an effort to stay really open. I re-realized a few things … everyone has their own opinions and views of our world … I see the model of family as one with global family and from that perspective, Dinan’s offerings, “Building Stronger Families” had way too many omissions for me. I think there’s probably lots of other good to be gleaned from the book so am trying to stay open. Meanwhile! I re-read The Tao Of Pooh at the beach and it settled my soul. And! There’s another outstanding voice blending sacredness and politics that you can listen to here:

BOLLAND

Peter Bolland was this week’s guest on the Association For Global New Thought’s webinar and his recording is linked on his page above. You can still sign up for this outstanding offering; the first 2 of 16 weeks are still available to hear and week 3 is next Monday. Thanks AGNT and Peter Bolland!Webinar BannerAs our pictures here obviously show, we are all about the Letter O at the New Thought Families Play & Pray Calendar  ~ For Humanity! ~ as well as on the Leaping Literacy Online Library Free Shelf!FreebiesIn a blink, we will be pondering the powerful letter P full of playful prayers, and promises of peace. For now, another OM of Oneness ~ for all our letters, all our relations, and all our own originalities operating with, for, and of, the One. I am deeply grateful for you sharing this OM moment with me. May you be filled with optimism, openness, and opportunities! Namaste, Love!

Loving Life In The Messy Middle

Rays_spinNamaste Shining Rays of Summer Solstice Love Expressed!
I greet you in the name of compassionate oneness this illuminated June of justice where the world spotlight has been on mass murder and the mayhem of hate manifested through the hurting heart of humanity. And! The resurgent rise of LOVE in the face of the hate that cannot survive the Light of Love we truly be. We are the Light Of Love ~ yes blessed expressed!

Solstice June 20th marked this year’s Solstice; here on the Northern hemisphere, the longest day of sun rays. Today, June 21st, is the ‘official’ first day of summer which originated, no doubt, from this turning point in our planet’s rotation around our life giving sun. Metaphysically, summer Solstice illuminates our lives; giving us an opportunity to more clearly review our life’s meaning. While the winter Solstice is a time of darkness, harkening us to turn to the light within for wisdom, the summer sun beckons us to look around at all we have done, all we are doing, and all we wish to do … to co-create, to mindfully manifest.
LoveWriteBecause this co-creation is messy middle Love life long, don’t miss the magnificent manifesting opportunities for living more of the shining truth of you found below near the bottom of this post!

177.Manifest

It is often challenging to see the truth of ourselves and to take responsibility for the life we have manifested ~ especially when we are (proverbially?!) living mired in the messy middle ~ the place between where we have been and where we see ourselves going. Yet! As mindful, conscious, compassionate, co-creators, looking through the illumined eyes of our heart is imperative to seeing where we are in Love. Ernest Holmes said, “Everything is either an act of love or a cry for love.” I wrote a song about it called, “Always Love” that I offer here, now, in music video … as a response to recent, loud, painful cries for Love … with the hope this song and what it sings can bring some compassion and maybe a bit of inspiration from the messy middle of humanity’s family:
Always Love Music Video
Passcode: Always14

Love is Love. Love wins. We have been heartened by these responses again this last week from, and for, the LBGT community in the wake of the shootings in Orlando. There were other tragic killings for more of our brothers and sisters worldwide this last week ~ the high profile ones we heard of and sadly, the many that happen daily, we never hear of. I am reminded that, most often, when tragedy strikes, Love is reawakened within us, calling us to rise up. It is Love that carries us through the daily challenges of being family ~ our immediate families and our global family. We let the best of us lift us up from natural disasters ~ floods, earthquakes, wildfires ~ lift us up from human attacks ~ the big ones like the Pulse Nightclub as well as the little ones like words of condemnation or the indifference of silence from our immediate family. We rise up in Love in the face of hate, fear, illness of body, mind, Spirit. We rise in compassion to meet the mental illness that takes away precious lives leaving a path of incomprehensible pain. We reach for Love & goodness; we make Love and we make music!174.MakeMusicFor surely, the song of Life is always singing in our souls calling us to rise … and rise again! The message of music singing our souls is in part, the song we sing and in part, the songs we choose to listen to ~ And! The response we choose in how we listen!

This past week held a lot for my personal family; a big one was my 16 year old Jeremiah going off to Spain with a school group. Another big piece of sky for him to fly and me to gracefully allow ~ as well as work hard to get him up, up, and away! After leaving him at 4:00 a.m. at the SF airport, I drove to the beach where I used to live before becoming his mom. Arriving there at 5:20 a.m., I embraced the silence of the beach and early dawning sunshine. Some hours later, I sat at a picnic table doing some notebook reflections and a good deal of people listening as lots of them walked by. I also watched a mole digging a big hole; she would move massive mounds of dirt with her mole body surfacing briefly and quickly retreating. She did her work efficiently and mostly silently (except for the crunching of roots!) largely unnoticed as multitudes of peeps strolled by. I marveled at how the mole methodically did her work irrespective of the hub bub going on above her and all around her. I also noticed how dogs are so interested in each other; often causing their people to interact with each other. I remembered last year during the Butte fires here how strangers took such a vocal interest in each other’s lives. As I sat there by the beach, I listened to so many interesting tidbits ~ getting caught up in a few. Most memorably was the mom pushing a baby stroller and talking to her 8 or 9 year old daughter walking beside her … “That little boy drowned. It was not the alligator ~ you don’t have to be afraid of alligators!” The little girl did not answer, her head down. Admittedly, I think I was gaping at the woman who caught my eye. I tried to ease my judgment with compassion ~ for all. And I do have judgments! Not the least of which is that alligators are wild animals who live in some waters (not the one we were next to!). They are to be feared. The little boy would not have drowned had the gator not snatched him. The frantic father could not save his son from the quick snatch of the alligator. I could go on … more judgments about what the Disney Resort should have and shouldn’t have done … yet, for the sake of our mindful moments … let us be free to embrace all in Love, compassion, and the divine order meaning that always lives in the messy middle. Always. No matter what. And in every moment of our choosing, we are free to choose unconditional Love. When we do, we are free.176.FreeMindLet us freely turn to the magic within our minds … it is ready for us whenever we choose to let go of messiness and embrace the blessedness. Truth is, we are infinitely blessed in every breath! And! Not the least of our blessings, is the capacity to live the divine, see the sacred, manifest the magic that lives in each of us and all of us! Yes, it is ‘natural’ to feel the pain of others and the horrible hurt that hate can inflict. It is just as innate to align with the magic flow of life … to feel good, to laugh, to see beauty everywhere present as the Creator’s gift to us ~ and our own gift to us, as co-creators giving to each other! Art, music, inspiring words, kind deeds, conscious conversations. When we set our mind on magic, we manifest more and more of it!          172.ManifestMagic

Justice Kisses: Kindred Kindness

152.Kiss Connected Kisses This Memorial Day!
I greet you in kindred connection to the kind core that lives in each of us and all of us ~ especially on this Memorial or Decoration Day here in the U.S. where we honor those who have died in war. My mother grew up with Decoration Day being a time to place flowers on the graves of all family members; to remember all those no longer here. My mom remembers picking wild flowers when they were fresh and storing them in 5 gallon buckets under the house for a week sometimes before Decoration Day. Somehow this image of the mindful remembrance and co-creation of my kinfolk, seems to make my heart smile and make me feel more akin to the holiday.151.KindToCreationCaring Kisses! Though this holiday weekend means many things ~ including BBQs and an ushering in of summer (though Solstice is still 3 weeks away!), it is most widely an honoring of those lives lost and damaged in war. I’ll be taking my dad, a WWII vet, to a ceremony and lunch at our local Veteran’s Hall. Last year at this event, the Chaplain’s extra long ‘prayer’ included what I found to be hate speech against many in our American (global) family. So, I am resisting returning there again yet I am still willing to be in service to my dad; in this case, for his service to our country. And I am willing to be in service to Love, kindness, justice, allowance, remembrance …MemorialKisses Of  Remembrance! Memorial. A time to remember. Where we honor our ancestors and bring forward some of the past into our present and ultimately our future. Hopefully, generations to come will heal the insanity of humanity that is war (Eckhart Tolle) and more fully embody the inherent freedom that exists within us as both the truth and possibility of humanity. And by us remembering this essence of who we truly be, we make each day, an opportunity to live remembrance … in active Love and service, allowance and forgiveness, compassion and kindness. Memorial picture from Pixabay.Kisses Of  Kindness! We attended a graduation celebration yesterday for a wonderful young woman who has always embodied kindness and service. Sara sang on many of our CDs and it was fun to see her and Jeremiah together … our kids are such a kinesthetic marker of time! Sara has upcoming service projects this summer that include building a house in Mexico, helping handicap children ride horses in Idaho and feeding the hungry in central California. She continues to keep connecting in kindred kindness in answering the callings of her heart. Jeremiah and I then returned to our old church this morning in their (not so) new location we had never been to. This was the community where we met Sara and sang together. The church continues to “Love, Serve, and Remember” and it was a gift to rekindle some old connections with kisses of caring kindness.150.KindredConnectionsKinfolk Kisses! My own Jeremiah is wrapping up school this week: some tests still await ~ including his driver’s test. Gulp. It’s here, my son, the licensed driver. This week also includes a long drive to my nephew’s graduation, the local graduation (Jeremiah’s on French horn for pomp and circumstance!) + I am hosting a little cast party one day after school at 14 Main ~ the dusty old family store some of the drama kids did the one act play about this year.BlogLakeT And! Next Sunday, our Creative Spirit Families’ local PlayShop is at beautiful Lake Tabeau ~ woo hoo! So lots of continued, blessed busy-ness, as my little Laurie StorEBooks (the most joy filled calling of my heart!) are still being birthed. JoinJ00 copyCommitted Kisses! In the midst of keeping commitments and connections with kin that include all of the above + a whole lota blessed birthday celebrations and some local performances this June, I will be sending my teenager off with free wings and a big sky the summer. Jeremiah is going to Spain on a school trip and when they come back to the States into Dallas, he will board another flight to Philly to be with his dad. They will drive nana’s old car across the country so my licensed driver will have his own wheels next school year. (More free wings for mama too!) Jeremiah will also return to band camp at Lake Tahoe for a week before school resumes in August so my free bird will be covering lots of sky this summer! Me? I will still be caring for dad while having a bit of a staycation at home. I will be kindling co-creation playing with a huge ABC project and production list. I plan to go back to kindergarten ~ with a playful heart and an open, learning mind! 154.KindergartenKisses Calling! What summer adventures are calling you and yours this season?! How about joining us in the sacred Sierras for fun, frolic, feathers, conscious, caring community and heart opening, empowering connections with self, family, friends, nature, creativity, spirituality?!
Feathers16AFeathers16B Kindred Kisses! Our hearts are always calling us home … to kindred connections of kindness, creativity, compassion, justice. We know what’s right and fair for ourselves and our family. In spiritually parenting myself, teenage Jeremiah and elder dad, things may often feel unfair or ‘wrong’ yet I have come to know the opportunity in those feelings to go deeper into divine order where kindness and justice reign supreme ~ always and in all ways. With Jeremiah in particular, I see the power of conscious connection that we have nurtured together. I heard a great term this week from an unidentified source, that the teenage experience is “dirtying the nest”. So true ~ in more ways than one! Yet awake and aware consciousness allows us to keep Spirit/God in the forefront helping us to navigate sometimes turbulent teenage waters with conscious kindness. The natural give and take of him growing up gives me just enough “Ok, go ahead and take your mess with you” to balance out the tears and sadness in spending the summer without him. I actually feel happy for him and for me ~ for the most part!

Joyous Inspiration, Judicious Implemention

116.InvestigateNamaste  Joyous, Jolly, Judiciousness Expressed!
I greet you with great gratitude after some time away from the blog this May. I am joyously grateful to be back! I have had many moments of missing this space and feeling out of integrity in not showing up here though this has been a time of integration and inner investigation amid outer exhaustion. A merry month of May mothering, nurturing, deepening vision and commitment along with tempering judgments; ah, awareness of judicious fairness! Like busy you, always so many things on the perpetual list to do, a job of forever choosing and tempering joy and justice. In this very moment, I am choosing to return to and stay in service to posting this blogpost rather than go to my yoga class. Out late last night and every night this week with Jeremiah’s joyous drama and band events, I am on dad duty later this morning to get him ready and to the doctor. My yoga class is on the way to dad’s house … mmm … deep breath. I embrace the yoga blessing of this blog here and now. I release the ongoing judgments of not enoughness that seemingly demand I stop sleeping altogether ( that wouldn’t be enough either!) and I breathe in the joy of this blessed, connected moment. It is joyful and I was made for this job! 139.JollyJumpingIsn’t it a wondrous blessing that we get to choose how we show up for the work/play of our lives?! While my own family commitments of single, spiritual parenting a 16 year old, a 90 year old, and a wanna be business continue to be potentially overwhelming, the groceries and dirty laundry of life provide the ongoing opportunity to consciously align and re-align with putting the joy in all the jobs I have taken on. In the Mothering Month of May, we can look at the co-creation of our lives as a joyous celebration. And when darkness comes to call as it does in every heart, we can explore the judgments for justice. My own exploration this month has found judgment as the balance point between joy and justice. Every mother (and father, and human co-creator) knows what it is to feel the joy of life gone ‘right’ and the pain of injustice for the myriad of ways the insanity of humanity shows up. Indeed, Mother’s Day itself began for justice, a “Mother’s Day For Peace” that no mother would ever lose a child to war. Ultimately, the ‘job’ of being human is a navigation between the juxtaposition of allowing joy and implementing justice.127.Implore130.JoyfulNoise

Even though there is plenty of injustice instigated by the insanity of humanity, our hearts are ever calling us home to joy evidenced in young children as our teachers. I find this call to joy to be an irresistible invitation and one that we can help hold for all of humanity ~ especially those who unfairly suffer. One playful, prayerful practice from our daily Play & Pray Calendar this month is to feel grateful joy for our blessings and to send out this high vibration in waves of compassionate justice hopefully helping to uplift the hurting hearts unfortunately found everywhere. 140.JoyfulWavesJusticeSo! It seems we can always meet in the messy middle in consciously living the divine. Enter … Entropy! ~ My teenage Jeremiah explained to me that he had found the reason for his messy bedroom clearly explained in his chemistry class. It seems there is a natural law called entropy that denotes that everything is always in a continuous chaos state of breakdown. Jeremiah further educated me that entropy has been scientifically proven and is irrefutable. “Ok”, I answered, “I certainly get chaos but where is the divine order?” Without missing a beat, Jeremiah said, “Mom, science hasn’t integrated the divine yet.” Yet. I suspect my Jeremiah may be one of those who will help the integration of science and spirituality along. And that thought helps me allow the presence of entropy in his bedroom. And in my own life and work for that matter!

The introduction of a named natural law for breakdown and chaos has helped me in my current, fluctuating chrysalis states. I do, absolutely see, know, affirm, believe in divine order. Always. And in all things. Yet, the messiness of my life and business, can easily feel out of control. It seems when one area of life feels well managed and handled, several other areas feel more messy. So Jeremiah shows me this YouTube video on entropy and the young sci guy is explaining that you eat lunch to get the fuel to clean your house. As you are cleaning your house and it is coming into order, your lunch is breaking down in your body in a certain state of disorder. ~ And yes, we know there is divine order at work there as always ~ One definition of entropy says, “lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder”. So maybe as you have a work project, you bring it together in an office or room that gradually turns to disorder. Could be just the regular week of life, school, kids, here and there … starts off in cleanly order and ends in heaps of dirty laundry and other piles of disarray. Is it divine? All the time!
