Namaste 2019 Dreams of Hope, Resilience, Forgiveness and Goodness! Happy New Year! Happy Birthday Dr. King!Ah yes, the dreams of our nation. Remember them in the midst of our current chaos?! While this would be a worthy conversation, especially on Dr. King’s (real!) birthday, it is the personal dreams of you that I want to focus on this moment. Yes, dreams begin with me and from the place of reclaimed personal dreams, we are stronger in our courage and convictions to (re)build the collective dreams of society and humanity.
So! How do your dreams grow? Are they alive and well? Withered, forgotten? Somewhere in between? This time of year, we take our Monday holiday and remember the words of the great Dr. King. We lament how 5 decades later, his dreams are still not fully realized and in some ways still seem so far out of reach. Yet! We renew our awareness and aspirations of dreaming and being them true! He reminds us to never give up on his dreams ~ or on ours either! The new year brings us new hope and often resolutions of change that can go unimplemented or broken within days or weeks. We may choose defeat and let go of the dream that inspired the resolution for change. Yet! Just as we see the truth and goodness in Dr. King’s iconic dream, let us hold the same for ourselves. Our hearts are ever calling us to our higher selves through inspirations, recurring thoughts, dreams … it is ours to do to show up for them … again and again! The essence of dreams is rooted in Love, they call us to reach up and out, like branches reaching for the light in an effort to grow and fully become. Love’s opposite, fear, quite naturally springs up to throw shade on our dreams in a myriad of ways. Our job is to keep returning to Love and light that we may embody our highest callings ~ regardless of the timeline! Mother Teresa famously said, “Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” Let us thereby stay faithful to Love and to dreams ~ our own and those of the collective Love! The Spirit of Kokopelli is presiding over my new home and the state of my birthing new dreams here. Carrying the Spirit of the ancestors, of music, of children, I align with Kokopelli’s magical, mystical properties as one of my dream totems. We all need good, supportive energy in birthing dreams. So, in this mindful moment, let us dream together … your dreams, my dreams, the dreams of divinity through humanity. Let us continue to dream the dreams of Dr. King, for justice, equality, peace. Let us not tire of dreaming, let’s keep believing. Let us look to our children as teachers as they look at the world with possibility! At our first monthly PlayShop of 2019, the children of one beautiful family shared their dream to sell eggs to raise money for kids in hospitals. I am a happy customer! Blessed by their dream! And so it is that we can help incubate each other’s dreams. I will dream with you, Love!
I greet you with the belated posts planned for last Thursday’s Thanks Living Thanksgiving, and then yesterday’s Giving Tuesday … ah, deep sigh of shifting commitments and continued life overwhelm. Thursday was a good family day and yesterday spent unexpectedly at the hospital with my dad. My dedication to being here each Tuesday until yearend morphed into Wednesdays and then last week, not at all. Such evidence of my struggle for balance. I continue to give and over-give in the endless cycle of never being enough. Our Black Friday society continuously blares the message (buy) more, more, MORE! All the deets of our lives aside, Spirit always beckons us to go within. Spotlight on self examination.
And so it goes, that wherever we are, there we are. After 8 and a half years, I am in a new home finding some forgotten fragments of self, I am not that fond of. Much of this is directly related to Jeremiah being away and my new life beginning as his does. He was in our new home for 2 nites before I drove him back and stayed over to see and hear him play the Rose Bowl. He is in the UCLA ‘solid gold sound’ of the band and happy. My YES for him has me reshaping my own views of my new co-creations here and on the horizon. And re-learning my tools of Thanks Living and choosing happiness.
This world teaches us that our existence is defined by the outer circumstances of our lives. Spirit allows us to know a different truth … one that is based on seeing, feeling, knowing, being the divine thread woven into every aspect of who we be and what all of Creation is. We certainly look to others for meaning and inspiration, even explanation. Yet in the end, all answers are within.
Recipe For Life!
I have been reminded of one of the elder teachers I have known and wrote a song about on ourTrust What You Hear CD. The chorus of the song, Still Walking, says: Love the Creator & the Whole Creation, Give of yourself wherever you’re set down Put your heart & hands into loving service and always know you’re walking holy ground
When we align with Love and service, the reverence of walking holy ground often follows and guides our way. Yet! As so many of us over-givers know, Love and service can be depleting and lead into overwhelm, burnout, ill health of body, mind, Spirit. Again, self examination and correction of our energies is the crucial factor in keeping ourselves balanced, healthy, holy.
Giving Tuesday is indeed a nice balance point for Black Friday & Cyber Monday as we pay attention to where we flow our money ~ for who & what … when and where. Perhaps the biggest invitation is to the examination of how we care ~ for who & what … when and where. As I was re-committing to a long list of work projects yesterday, my dad called to say he had just gotten up from a long night (and morning) on the floor. He sounded alert and ‘with it’ saying he had gotten himself into bed so I grabbed a shower before heading over. In shifting all priorities, the shower seemed reasonable and he was sleeping like a baby when I got there. The disarray of the house and his body took us to the hospital where tests showed his CHF was out of control. They are keeping him for a few days to ‘dry out’. As the hours rolled by at the hospital, I marveled at the nurses and doctors who so lovingly give their hearts and hands to service. And I fused waves of inspiration & motivation, with frustration and dedication returning ~ over and again ~ to the holy ground I am walking.
My new home is all about expansion for myself and for Creative Spirit Families ~ both the Online Library and the local community. This big place is definitely feeling full of promise and potentiality and in turn, sometimes overwhelming and lonely. I have been feeling another elder so strongly ~ Faith Petric! Like her Victorian in SF, this will be a music house full of singing.
The mixed intuition I had all along was pointing to more old dirt than I wished to care for ~ yes, my own but mostly having to clean as I go … some of it grimy yuck I cannot and will not live with. And! I was getting increasingly a bit phobic about dirt so this place is allowing some lower standards 🙂 I am choosing to expand in all kinds of ways, some of which is not inherent in the square footage! I will be bringing videos to life in the near future and the house will be open for Solstice!
Thanks Living = Holy (Wholly!) Living!
The darkness ~ like all of life ~ is an ever present, omnipresent invitation to the Light. The Light invites us to be bright! Shining through the shadows is what grows our souls. And so it goes that with deep self examination and divination, we can align with the shine of our divine design. For me, that brings me back, time after time, to the Leaping Literacy Library! Creative Spirit Families mission is to support traditional, creative, and spiritual family literacy. The dreams I have for expansion have not gone away yet rather patiently wait for my scattered attention. I am choosing to focus and allow grace to guide and assist me in this labor of Love ~ especially through all the labor pains!
For us to live holy ~ and wholly ~ we must remain mindful, grateful, willing … and thereby able to be response able (responsible!) to live our highest callings! Just say YES!!
And so dear ones, when and if you are reading these words, I wish you ease and grace in knowing yourself, giving yourself care and knowing the holiness in all of it. We are infinitely blessed by this gift of life. We give our best, when we gratefully express our YES, whatever that is for you in any given moment. And so we grow in the light! Blessed be! Namaste, Love.
Happy Mother’s Day Monday! I return to this sacred cyber space after what seems like a lifetime away … March and April mark the only months since February 2011, that I have not been here to express. You have been missed! And whether or not, you have noticed or missed me or this space, thank you so much for being here … here and now.
I am gratefully here this mindful Monday moment in May … Here in gratitude for life’s garden ever growing gracefully on. For the essence of creation, co-creation, and motherhood, I offer this song …
Yes, our Earth Mama is always singing Love’s song and my own mama sang so sweetly to me from birth. I passed that sharing of song onto my son. As he prepares to leave for college, the song plays on in our hearts as I am comforted by the divine knowing that the song of Love does indeed sing on and on.Grace flows through us, as us, if we allow it!As I prepare the heart of my home for the ’empty nest’, I reach through moments of deep grief with faith for the fullness of grace. All of life goes and grows at the pace of grace. Yet! We can experience something so different when we are out of balance, stressed, and out of sync with the gratitude of how we are blessed. It basically comes down to saying a grateful YES in every breath! Allowing this transition of my son’s departure sometimes feels anything but graceful. Like an unwanted divorce, I am gifted the opportunity of renewal and new beginnings … whether I fully embrace it or not! And! My son and I are doing the natural dance of tense tango at times as we navigate his departure. You know, me the mama still wanting to control and fix things, he the 18 year old man cub saying “I got this, back off.” We are actually more good and loving than not yet the tension can surface in its capacity to facilitate the leaving and weirdly, perhaps, alleviate the grieving. You know, if our children were the same sweet 7 year olds, we would never want them to go and they would never want to leave! Evolution demands something different. The same pattern is playing out with the elders I care for. As they slowly die and I devote time and energy to their journey, I know that I will miss them less when they are gone. When a soul lets go of a vibrant, active body and life, we feel shock and can miss them greatly. When a soul plays out their lifetime in a body and Spirit less and less engaged and capable, (for me) it becomes so much easier to let go and bless them on their way.
Evolution is to let go of what was so we are better able to embrace what is!The other piece of family life that is coming to completion with the help of angels and ancestors is the cleaning out and selling of the old family store and stocks. In the spring of 2015, I posted pictures and commentary of some of that journey, the storyline runs through 50 or more years, and generations. The most beautiful, divine order piece of the story is that the old store and home is being purchased by a dear man who will restore it back … he’s keeping the old animal heads and even vowing to re-paint the family name on the window! This will be such a gift to the community as well as the family. I am in awe of the divine order grace. I will save the majority of the wrap up for another day yet suffice it to say, this marvelous May, our ancestors are being set freer on their way! And me too! This summer, I will be turning back to some intended work to add interesting, inspirational Vintage Voices to the Leaping Literacy Library!
The Leaping Literacy Library! As reported, we are replaying our ABC’s for Humanity from 2016 this 2018 calendar year on our daily Play & Pray Calendar. My efforts to change the Free Shelfevery 2 weeks in keeping with the letters has fallen somewhat short. Hence our May Shelf is holding I J K! Yay ~ let’s play!
Though I have allowed a pull in too many (see, I am not enough!) directions, my heart and life path remain dedicated to the realms of imagination and literacy!

So much to ing this spring! Yes I am creatively and spiritually blessed even with the life stress! At times, life has been more than overwhelming in terms of keeping up with Jeremiah, dad & the elders, ancestor treasure business resolving, my work at Spiritual Life Center and me staying true to me and to my work life callings. As I align with the shine of my divine design, I know JOY is a worthy barometer!
I have given notice at Spirtual Life Center that I cannot continue in the capacity I was hired and have been serving this last year. Being even a part time Youth & Families Director has pulled me too far away from my work here at Creative Spirit Families. This summer, I will be a consultant for SLC, putting in place the power points, materials and resources for the program yet only facilitating it myself, 1 Sunday a month instead of every Sunday. The Center is partnering with us this year for our annual Feathers Of Freedom Family Camp ~ woo hoo! ~ You join us too?! ~ And! I will continue to shape monthly offerings for the program found on their Youth & Families page. Here is May’s video:
So! Life gracefully grows on! What have I learned and what have I deepened this ing spring? If I do not put me, my dreams, my soul callings 1st, no one else will! And in fact, others will increasingly demand my attention, care, time, talent, treasure. I am the co-creator who draws the boundaries ~ or not! I tend to put everyone else first as so many women and mothers do. Why? Low self esteem? Ingrained servitude? Cultural should? In the reflection gifts of the pond, I am reminded that young children are some of our best teachers of how to be on the spiritual path. In fact, they openly show us what being connected to the divine looks like. They are the inspiration for master teachings:
Be here now
Follow your heart
See the world for it’s divine essence through incredulous wonderment
As children of the Creator, we are all children and we all seek: Time, Attention, Love. We want to be seen and heard, encouraged and supported.
And in the midst of all the ways we triumph and fail … again and again … We are ever called to carry on with TLC and kindness for ourselves and all our kindred connections!
Wherever and however you are this mindful May moment (or any magical moment you happen by this sacred, cyber space), my ultimate wish for you and all living beings is that we allow grace to guide our hearts and homes … ever freeing us to Carry Kindness and Live Love! Thank you again for being here. Namaste, Love!
Greetings this fleeting last breath of February! I am here, in this mindful moment, in large part motivated by not missing the mark on the month. This blog was birthed in February 2011 and I have been here every month and couldn’t miss this one! Deep breath of commitment, surrender, pause for purpose … Truth is, my life hasn’t really had room for this blog of late … hence the last moment markers on the last few months’ dates. Time to realign the shine of this divine design? Maybe yes, maybe no, maybe so. If you are here, at any divine shine moment, thank you. Let us have a heart to heart.
We are all devoted to something. Some of us devoted to too many things. Yes, let us all be devoted to humanity. In the oneness blessed of who we be, let us pray for the tapestry of hearts that is the collective body we are home to. It is easy and perhaps natural to be wrapped up in what is right before us with no mind or heart space left for ‘others’. Tragedies occur, come into our consciousness, we pray for those affected and then we necessarily move on. Yet! Devotion demands diligence. Continued prayers and caring. Whether our thoughts, words, actions seem to have an impact on humanity’s heart or not, we continue to show up in the smallest of ways … with Love, in Love, as Love. We do because devotion makes a difference ~ if in no other heart than our own. We are, after all, heart energy. Holy Creator’s breath of Love expressed. With a mindful, loving presence, we can manage our energy with everything from food choices, thoughts, balanced choices of time for work, sleep, spiritual practice and play. I have not been visually online much at all the last few weeks (months?) as I show up for so many other areas of life and strive for balance and beauty within and in all I am dedicated and devoted to. Facebook is something I seemingly abandoned mostly out of life and energy overwhelm. The swirling energies of social media became too much for me to successfully manage so I just stepped (way!) back. Increased peace and balance are worth it and working for me, for now. Our lives continue to be an evolution of old & new, light & dark, good & bad. With Love in the center, divine order is always unfolding. I still have a fair amount of energy going to the elders all dying slow, slow deaths (like this blog?! ~ maybe ~). I see what it is to stop caring as the literal energy in the body lessons to the point of inability to show up for things that were once important, or even inspirational. Juxtaposed to my now 18 year old son in the thick of scholarship applications, local speech contests, drama and band performances ~ he like I have been for so much of life ~ lending his young, zealous energies here, there and everywhere! Balance. Angels and ancestors whisper to learn from the old, bring their strength and Love to the new. As I have let go of some things and still struggle to do half of what calls, I appreciate the divine dance of divinity as it plays out in life’s infinity. Dying and living, co-creating on all levels, we are humanity. At the heart of how I express life and Love these days is in the elevation of vibration ~ in work, play, everyday conversations. If we can somehow leave peeps the better for our interactions … sometimes I am golden in this and other times less so. We know how people, situations, news, views make us feel. Our inner Grace Positioning System will always let us know whether we are elevating and being elevated or going the other direction. With that information, we often have the freedom to choose whether to continue or disengage for the sake of our highest and best. There is no better playground to practice this than in our minds and hearts. Feeling good and positive and elevated can be work yet with the right transformative tools, it can be fairly easy and even enJOYable. And when it’s not, we keep our 3rd eyes on the prize knowing we will get to that feel good place of Love and it is well worth the journey. Indeed, it is the only way to go for ultimate happiness and elevation of ourselves ~ and humanity!Leaping Literacy Library! It is a place I am dedicated to be! I keep working on what’s there and inching towards what I want to be there! Our Free Shelf is freshly stocked with E’s as we change letters every 2 weeks in keeping with our For Humanity Daily Play & Pray Calendar at New Thought Families. There are special invitations and videos with the Season For Peace as well as inspirational game pages with Peaceful Reconstructionists. Even though I haven’t been making room for the Blog, the other regular features of the websites have been receiving as much TLC as I can muster. The daily Play & Pray celebrates 10 years in May and it remains the truest invitation I can issue you … a playful opportunity to be in your heart each day.As we find ourselves in this year’s Lenten season with Equinox and Easter coming this way, may we all entrust everlasting essence as we shape our days. We are made of Love and all the ways we choose to express this divinity has an impact on humanity and life’s energy. From any and all darkness, may we align with the shine of our divine design and our Spirits Rising ~ anytime! Thank you again for being here. Thank you for continuing to rise into your highest Love expressed. Namaste, Love Divine, Namaste!
Delayed December greetings of lighted Love in a fleeting farewell to 2017! Here’s to the run on To Do’s of the December season of lights, packages, and fa la la’s that are counter to the winter Solstice invitation to go inward, get quiet and still. Here’s to the millions of moments that have manifested magic and mayhem and everything in between this turbulent year. And here’s to focusing on the good … small, tiny strokes of goodness on the landscape of all that has been and continues to unfold.
Pictured below are small, handmade Christmas gifts; given and received. They serve as a reminder and an invitation to simple gifts of the heart. My lovely angel assistant at Spiritual Life Center, Katelynn, not only shows up big every Sunday, this Christmas she came bearing tremendous tiny gifts she made with her own heart infused hands! She had made me a little journal book for my birthday and these amazing little Christmas scene boxes; she made the boxes, painted them, created tiny figures on the lid and provided the’ snow’ for the scene. Precious! Thank you angel Katelynn!Katelynn’s gifts helped me complete a handmade heart gift for my friend and dad caregiver helper; I took 2 small walnuts she had picked up with her helping hands, then painted them gold and made them into earrings for her with my heart flow hands ~ she loved them and felt the flow of angels and ancestors. And so it is with the circle of inspiration!
After more than a decade of Decembers, our fake Christmas tree did not grace our living room this season. Maybe it was the overload of fake news this year but I had let the tree go in a summer cleaning spree vowing this Christmas would provide a tree adventure. At my dad’s ranch, his 100 year old cedar had sprouted some babies that were growing in the cow field. They had to go so we had several little trees. These pictures do not do them justice yet again, the small touches of Jeremiah and I ceremoniously chopping them down for our house and dads + the lighting up of a live branch was actually a happy departure from what had become our tree tradition.Lovely branches, lovely life! I smile with these less than glamourous pictures now … sitting in the quiet of the library with Jeremiah at the same table doing his college application essays due in days/hours. We have left our annual music camp for a few hours to take care of these words … him with life decision deadlines that have been in the hopper for months now, me with staying true to this blog with some account of December’s deLIGHT! Truth is, this season, and this year has gifted us (especially me) many challenges and it is good to get away. We had a bit of a sunny walk on the beach a few days ago before heading into the redwood tree vortex of music camp …
As aforementioned, the winter darkness of December and its calling to stillness is often drowned out by our holiday To Do’s. For my part, the closing of the studio mid-month amid all the rest of my ongoing commitments, left little time for all the shopping et al. Yet I celebrated at Spiritual Life Center, took grammy to see lights, fixed a brunch and a dinner for the elders and the young ones and got it all cleaned up … with some presents in between. Lots of work with little time for rest left me spotlight blessed! With clarity and non-judgement, I deeply understand how my life choices have been affecting me, my dreams, and future. I SEE! I AM FREE!
December Divinity! Free Potentially! Here in lies the holy light message of this month; the tenderheartedness of Christmas and the season of light is indeed a perfect spotlight into our lives year round. How we do one thing is usually how we do all things; through conscious awareness we can reshape our lives … enter New Year’s resolutions! I am embracing them for 18 with a dedicated devotion to discipline ~ putting feet, hands, and plans to the vision I see so clearly now!
I have fairly well mastered overwhelm and over commitment … so enough already! I am enough and can stop trying to prove otherwise! The tears of this season and this turbulent year are bringing the clarity needed for the puzzle pieces to reshape the steps needed on my soul’s journey …
Divinity & Humanity!
Our collective journey is much the same … the atrocities and cries for justice this ’17 can help propel us into more of who we are called to be in our highest expression of divinity in humanity. We owe it to ourselves and our children to keep rising with persistent power and potentiality ~ to live our highest humanity as divinity. The shadows of 17 have loomed large so hopefully we can all see more of who we have to be to live free.
Part of my clarity, has me returning to spiritual ABC’s and Humanity in the coming year which will bring me here with more regularity. In this moment, I am turning to Jeremiah’s essay edits and returning to music camp to sing and play the rest of the day and over the cusp of welcoming 18. I have some big plans yet it is all best played out in small moments.
Whatever calls to you, in the small or the tall, may you trust yourself to implement it all. And may we all stand together for truth, beauty, justice and the infinite possibilities of humanity! I wish you a continued season of Light and a prosperous New Year filled with the realities of your potentialities. Namaste, Love!
Namaste Devoted Disciples of the Divine ~ infinity of divinity freely expressed!
I greet you in the name of democracy this post in the days following the Million Women’s March & the U.S. Inauguration of our 45th President. I was among the 20,000 marching in Sacramento Saturday in solidarity with the half million who showed up in D.C. ~ as hundreds of thousands gathered in so many cities all over America and the world adding up to, perhaps 3 million (Los Angeles 500,000, Chicago 250,000, New York 200,00, Denver 100,000, Boston, 100,000). “We are here and around the world for a deep democracy that says we will not be quiet, we will not be controlled, we will work for a world in which all countries are connected. God may be in the details, but the goddess is in connections.” ~ Gloria Steinem’s Women’s March speech, 1/21/17Full speech is here.
Indeed, there was a huge wave of voices rising up, and feet showing up and standing up for women’s rights, human rights, our Earth Mother and more ~ all over the world. And while our newly elected government didn’t have much to say, Canada’s Prime Minister is quoted as saying: “Congratulations to the women and men across Canada who came out yesterday to support women’s rights. You keep your government inspired.”~ Justin Trudeau
The huge outpouring of vitality, energy, kindness, Love & creativity I experienced in the march I was in, was echoed in all the others across the nation and the world. At the end of this post, is the link to a powerful, global pictorial from the New York Times. If you get nothing else from this sharing, do see the incredible images The Times put together. What I experienced on Saturday and what I see in these worldwide pictures is an exhilarating sense of solidarity, unity, resilience and resistance; an unprecedented coming together of people’s voices speaking for Love and justice. Not one incident of violence or harm occurred ~ just the incredible freedom of expression that is the cornerstone of democracy. It is a wave of the infinity of divinity; the divine that lives in each of us that calls us to rise up and out for ourselves, our children, for each other, for humanity. And! I so get it from some of the women closest to me (in proximity) that this divine calling is (obviously!) not one that calls to everyone. We each get to choose who and what we show up for, what we speak up for. The beauty of creation ~ human and otherwise ~ is the very diversity we stand up for. Our Creator, incredibly loves us all the same. As disciples of this Love that birthed us, we each get to follow our own callings, whatever they be. My heart is so full from seeing so many ~ of all ages ~ rise up, stand up, speak up.
Throughout history, it is the brave ones who speak up, and stand up that inspire and lead us. It is the divine disciples for democracy like Gandhi & King that we follow to this day. “A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people.”~ Mahatma Gandhi
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In the wake of all of this, I am re-committing to what I feel called to show up for … family, work, self … Love. Some of that shift will be reflected here in this blog space ~ hopefully making it clearer than ever whether this offering and/or the live and web work I have to offer is of service to you and yours. This blog was ‘born’ February 2011 as part of the website anniversary ~ New Thought Families .com launched on 2-7-2007 so with our 10 year anniversary coming up, it’s a great time to name and claim who we are and who we serve. In the broader scope of my work as an artist performer and the Creative Spirit Families non-profit, New Thought Families is home base to our spiritual literacy work.
With years of resources including 2016’s ‘For Humanity’ A~Z Calendar year, our Transformational Tools will be coming out in new ways to help others in living as divine disciples. Live & online spiritual literacy presentations are in the works and at play so stay fine tuned! For any local peeps, Creative Spirit Families has a table at theAmador Holistic Health and Wellness Fairethis Saturday and I’ll give a short talk on Spiritual Literacy at 2:30. I am also listening and planning for ways to shape our offerings to include more for political literacy and social justice. This will include a (long overdue!) expansion to some online ‘Name That Peacemaker’ games that originated one Season For Peace and Nonviolence in conjunction with this year’s Season, January 30th-April 4th which commemorates the lives of Gandhi & Dr. King. We have another week of January smiles on the New Thought Families daily Play and Pray Calendar as well as on the January Jubilee Free Shelf!Thank you for being here … wherever you are on your January journey, devoted disciple, undecided divinity ~ may you be inspired and uplifted by all the rising voices The Timesso beautifully captured in the link below. And may we all know deep in our hearts and souls that we are free to live the infinity of our divinity as the best of humanity’s harmony and democracy … NOW! Namaste, Love!
Namaste Mindful, Mystical Manifestations of The Mystery!
In the Circle of Time, I greet you with a smile of Love and well wishes for a bright, bountiful, and beautiful New Year!
With 2017 well under way, I am reaching out today with various video messages you can choose to peruse ~ or not! In the sea of offerings that call to our minds, hearts, and souls, we definitely have to choose only those that serve us best! ‘The Mystery’ linked above and hereremains some of the best advice I know in choosing how we can live a meaningful life ~ basically by choosing to be happy and be with the ‘Mystery’ every day ~ of any year, any life!
So! How are you living your ‘Mystery’ this new year? This new moment of being? You are HERE! And I, for one, am grateful. For all my intentions of being here in this blog space to ceremoniously ring in the new year, it is simply here and now that I am showing up with scattered greetings of epiphany, burning bowl and the shine of solstice shadows. The following 3 videos came about on December 21st, December 31st, and January 6th. I suppose the way any ‘real’ person shares such things is in real time like on FaceBook. Somehow, I save things for this space because it feels more sacred and sanctified. And yes, we get to make it all up, whatever meaning we assign to whatever we do … for who … when!
This Epiphany videoshares my intention/resolution to DIGin this 2017 as a disciple as well as a new song, “Free To Leave” that sings to the spiritual parenting journey I have been on with my son, my father, and myself. My big epiphany of 2017: Just keep showing up however you are called! DIG in and do it! Be a devoted disciple to the divine callings of your heart with discipline. Not too sexy or exciting yet the discipline will allow me more structure and ultimately more freedom! Too much freedom can lead to chaos. And in my case, the lack of structure and devotion to my own callings in the wake of serving everyone else led to some extreme end of the year exhaustion I am just now recovering from! Inward Investments invite innate inspirations! Intuition! Imagination! I am a disciple of these! And in being a devotee of this infinity of divinity, I gratefully live in the glow of grace. Gratitude garners grace! So it is that I am a disciple of my divinity infinitely inspired by intuition ad imagination as I gratefully grow in grace!
Ultimately, especially this time of year, we can look to our dreams for the solutions and resolutions we seek for our happiness. Yet, we all have failed resolutions. In fact, the odds are with us that by year’s end we will find ourselves in a similar place in the circle from where we started. YET! As spiritual beings on this human path, we have SO many transformational tools to transform our dreams into realities. Habits can be shifted and changed to support us. Being mindful and proactive in releasing the old and embracing the new is one that comes up this time of year. Setting intentions, using a burning bowl for release and centering into what we are embracing is a ritual that serves us on holy days, calendar milestones, and ANY time the energies beckon! From the small to the tall, there are always milestones along our path …
Our year always ends and begins with Folk Music Camp; a few hundred of us sing, ring, play, dance out the old and in the new. This was my 25th+ year and Jeremiah’s 17th (counting in utero) so quite the long standing tradition. This was the first time in all those years, I didn’t have kids for a youth chorus. the tradition started when I first joined because there were SO many kids and a need. For the last bunch of years, the kids have been few and the need diminished. This was the year to let it go. So I released that and many other things with some tears and a beautiful burning bowl ceremony with some lovely ladies who joined me. Rather than do it alone, I invited others on the workshop board and The Invitation was beautifully met as shared in this brief Camp video:
Shining our light and living our dreams is not about being shadow free but rather a continuous process of bringing our light to the shadows. And! If you’re anything like me, taking the time to shine the light in celebration of all that HAS changed, HAS gone right, HAS manifested is paramount! We can always take time to honor what has come to be! Like water over stone, we are constantly evolving and changing … With each turn of the wheel, we are always in a different place on the circle.
At Camp, I had a little workshop to sing the 36 A-Z Short Spirit Songs created in 2016. I am excited and delighted to be resolved in producing those songs in CD and digital release this year ~ whoopee! I also published in the Leaping Literacy Library, 44 new alliteration titles in 2016! You can get online pictorial & audio samples of any or all of them here:
So my 2017 is still working on the missing letters and a WHOLE lot more as a disciplined disciple of my muse. One day, one page, one title at a time … at the pace of grace … from my winter zzzzzzzz slumber of rejuvenation ~ resolved not to repeat the exhaustion of 2016! Our January Jubilee Free Shelf is stocked and we are smiling on the New Thought Families daily Play and Pray Calendar!
Whatever mix of new and old you are in this mindful moment, may you breathe in ease and grace in the circle of time knowing that you, and all of life are absolutely fine and divine. And yes, absolutely, continue to release, embrace, and SHINE! “Let the cracks allow more light to shine through your heart.” Thank you, thank you, for the infinity of divinity that is the smiling you. Namaste, Love!
